Hyundai and Genesis electric vehicle (EV) owners in North America now have access to over 20,000 Tesla Superchargers, the automaker announced on Tuesday. The move extends fast-charging capabilities to models such as the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Kona Electric, and the original Ioniq Electric, as well as Genesis models GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80.
Hyundai will provide eligible owners with a free North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter, allowing them to connect to Tesla’s fast-charging network. Customers who purchased or leased their EV on or before January 31, 2025, will receive an email starting April 7 with instructions on how to claim their adapter through the MyHyundai platform.

“Starting today, more Hyundai EV customers will have access to 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America,” said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president at Hyundai Motor North America. The expansion nearly doubles the fast-charging options available to Hyundai and Genesis drivers.

To receive the free unit, owners must have an account on MyHyundai and opt in to receive emails. The process must be completed within 60 days of receiving Hyundai’s notification. The company outlined the following steps for eligible owners to claim their fast-charging adapter:
-
Own an eligible Hyundai EV that was purchased or leased on or before January 31, 2025.
-
Have an active MyHyundai.com account and be opted in to receive emails.
-
Eligible customers will receive an email starting the week of April 7 to verify their account details, including shipping address and vehicle information.
-
Customers must confirm their details and agree to the adapter’s usage terms and conditions.
-
If all information is correct, they can approve shipment by clicking “Yes, the above information is correct.”
-
If the shipping address is incorrect, they must update it on MyHyundai.com. A new email to redeem the adapter will be sent after the update is processed.
-
Once confirmed, Hyundai will send a tracking number when the adapter ships.
Hyundai-designed NACS adapters are optimized for V3 Tesla Superchargers and other compatible fast-charging stations. Beginning in 2025, new Hyundai and Genesis EVs, including the upcoming Ioniq 9, will come equipped with built-in NACS ports, eliminating the need for an adapter.
