Citroen has unveiled the second generation of its C5 Aircross, now available as a fully electric ë-C5 Aircross. The new model is based on Stellantis’ STLA-Medium platform and offers two distinct battery variants for customers, both aimed at delivering longer electric ranges.
The ë-C5 Aircross will be offered in two versions. The ‘Standard Range’ model features 157 kW of drive power, paired with a 73 kWh usable battery for a WLTP range of up to 520 km.

Meanwhile, the ‘Long Range’ variant offers 170 kW drive power and a larger 97 kWh battery, achieving a WLTP range of 680 km. These variants are built on a 400-volt architecture, which is part of the platform’s versatility.
The new generation marks a step forward in Citroen’s electric vehicle offerings, joining the growing lineup of electric SUVs within Stellantis brands. Compared to models from Opel and Peugeot, which are based on the same STLA-Medium platform, the ë-C5 Aircross’ ‘Standard Range’ slightly underperforms in range. However, it offers competitive features for its segment.

Set to launch in Europe during the second half of 2025, the ë-C5 Aircross will be assembled at Citroen’s Rennes plant in France. While specific markets have not been disclosed, the vehicle is expected to be available in several key European countries. The ë-C5 Aircross will come equipped with a heat pump and an 11 kW onboard charger for AC charging, with an optional 22 kW three-phase bi-directional charger available from 2026.
The ë-C5 Aircross will also offer V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality, enabling the car to supply electricity to external devices, turning it into a mobile power source. The system will be particularly useful in situations where access to energy is limited, such as during outdoor activities. However, vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications are not expected until later.

In addition to the BEV version, Citroen will also offer a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) versions of the C5 Aircross, with the PHEV boasting an electric range of up to 86 km. Citroen’s EV Trip Planner will assist drivers by calculating the optimal routes and incorporating charging stops, further enhancing the usability of the electric model.
The new C5 Aircross offers greater dimensions compared to its predecessor, measuring 4.65 meters in length with a 2,784 mm wheelbase, providing more space in the rear seats. The vehicle’s boot volume is also substantial, offering up to 651 liters with the rear seats upright and more than 1,660 liters when the seats are folded down.
