Lucid Motors reported a record for quarterly deliveries in the first three months of 2025, handing over 3,109 electric vehicles to customers across North America, Europe, and Saudi Arabia. The milestone marks the fifth consecutive quarter of delivery growth for the luxury EV manufacturer, even as broader industry peers such as Tesla and Rivian saw early-year declines. A contributing factor to Lucid’s strong first-quarter performance was a spike in fleet-related sales. According to the company’s latest regulatory filing, it sold approximately $27.2 million worth of vehicles to entities classified as “rental companies.” However, a spokesperson clarified that the majority of…
Germany’s Vector Begins Production of Megawatt Charging Controller for Heavy-Duty EVs
German software developer Vector Informatik has launched series production of its new communication controller for the Megawatt Charging System (MCS), aiming to accelerate the rollout of ultra-fast charging infrastructure for electric trucks. The vSECC.MCS controller, first introduced at Power2Drive 2025, supports charging capacities of up to 3.75 megawatts and is now available to infrastructure manufacturers targeting long-haul electrification. The controller facilitates high-power vehicle-to-charger communication using Ethernet protocols and is compliant with ISO 15118-20 and IEC TS 63379 standards. “With battery-electric trucks facing limited downtime, the need for efficient and reliable communication during charging is critical,” said Dr Omar Abu Mohareb,…
V-Green, the global electric vehicle charging network developer backed by VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong, said it will deploy more than 60,000 charging ports across Indonesia by the end of 2025 as part of a $300 million investment to bolster the country’s green mobility infrastructure. The initiative, more than doubling V-Green’s earlier deployment target, will be carried out through newly signed partnerships with Chargecore, Chargepoint, Amarta Group, and CVS. The rollout will focus on key regions including Jabodetabek, Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, Medan, Batam, Bali, and Kalimantan. The first infrastructure projects are scheduled to begin in May 2025, with initial charging…

Nissan Cancels $1.1 Billion Battery Plant Project in Japan, Offers No Timeline for Replacement
Nissan said on Friday it has cancelled plans to build a 153.3 billion yen ($1.05 billion) electric vehicle battery plant in Kitakyushu, southwestern Japan, as the company undertakes a strategic overhaul to address weak performance and mounting losses. The factory, originally announced in January, was intended to produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with an annual capacity of 5 gigawatt-hours and was expected to create around 500 jobs. The Japanese government had pledged up to 55.7 billion yen in subsidies to support the project, which had been scheduled to begin production in or after July 2028. “After careful consideration of…
Tesla has launched a pilot program that introduces real-time pricing at select Supercharger stations, shifting away from its traditional fixed-rate structure. The test, currently limited to 10 unspecified locations, allows charging rates to fluctuate depending on actual site demand at the time of use. See also: Tesla Launches Cheaper Model Y Long Range RWD in U.S. at $44,990 Previously, Supercharger pricing was determined by preset peak and off-peak hours based on historical usage patterns.
