Volkswagen will introduce its smallest electric SUV, the ID.2X, at the IAA motor show in Munich this September, CEO Thomas Schäfer has confirmed. The model, previously known as the ID.2all SUV, will be part of the automaker’s push into the compact electric vehicle segment.
The ID.2X will be produced alongside the ID.2, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq at Volkswagen Group’s factory near Barcelona, Spain. Positioned as an electric alternative to the T-Cross, the new SUV is designed to meet the growing demand for small electric crossovers in Europe.

Built on a shortened version of Volkswagen’s MEB platform, the ID.2X will be powered by a single front-mounted electric motor delivering 223 bhp. It will be available with two battery options—38 kWh and 56 kWh—with the larger battery expected to provide a WLTP range of approximately 451 km. The vehicle will support fast charging of up to 125 kW, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes.
Measuring approximately 4,100 mm in length with a 2,600 mm wheelbase, the ID.2X is expected to offer more cargo space than the ID.2’s 490 liters. Inside, it will feature a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a 10.9-inch digital driver display, and physical controls for climate and audio settings.
