Rivian, the electric vehicle (EV) automaker and Tesla rival, is planning to open up its charging network to owners of other EV brands. Australia has announced plans to invest $70m in grant funding for charging infrastructure, to be administered through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). The new funding follows the release of the National Electric Vehicle Strategy (NEVS), and will be made available to Australian businesses, local governments and councils, as well as state and territory-owned corporations. Einride, the Swedish technology company, has announced its launch in the UK, backed by a partnership with global food and beverage giant, PepsiCo. The partnership will see Einride’s electric trucks transporting Walkers’ crisps between the company’s plants in Leicester and Coventry. Norwegian capital Oslo is leading the way in the transition to zero-emission public transport with the introduction of 183 new electric buses. The Solaris Urbino 18 vehicles were ordered by transport operator Unibuss, and are the largest order to date for Polish manufacturer Solaris. General Motors (GM) has taken the lead in the electric vehicle (EV) industry by having the highest number of EV models eligible for the full $7,500 tax credit. The company’s entire range of electric vehicles under the MSRP cap will qualify for the full EV tax credit in 2023.
