Koncar, the Croatian train builder, has entered into a partnership with Swiss battery system manufacturer Leclanché to power its first order of two trains that will run on medium-haul routes in coastal and inland Croatia. One of the trains is a purely electric system, while the other is a hybrid that draws its energy from the batteries or an overhead line, depending on the track section. Van Dijk Trucks, a leading truck dealer for Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks in the central Netherlands, has recently installed a new 360 kW charging station at its Utrecht branch to provide electric trucks with power. The station has the capacity to charge two vehicles in parallel with 180 kW or a single vehicle with 360 kW. Wells & Co., the family brewer and pub company, has taken a major step forward in its commitment to sustainability with the installation of 23 rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging points at seven of its sites across the UK. Germany is leading the way in improving the sustainability of lithium-ion batteries through a joint project called SWELL.
