Solaris has signed a contract with Czech public transport operator Dopravní podnik města Olomouce to deliver 20 electric buses, marking the first deployment of Solaris battery-electric buses in the operator’s fleet. The order includes 10 Urbino 12 electric buses and 10 articulated Urbino 18 electric buses, with deliveries scheduled for 2028. The agreement also includes an option for 20 additional vehicles.
Solaris Electric Bus Order
The initial order consists of 10 twelve-metre Urbino 12 electric buses and 10 articulated Urbino 18 electric buses. If the option is exercised, Dopravní podnik města Olomouce could add another 15 twelve-metre battery-electric buses and five articulated vehicles, bringing the potential total order to 40 Solaris electric buses.
Solaris Secures Framework Deal For Up To 70 Electric Buses In Czech Republic
The vehicles will be based on Solaris’s modular drive architecture, which removes the traditional engine tower. The configuration is designed to provide additional passenger space while facilitating vehicle servicing.
Electric Bus Safety Systems
The buses will comply with General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2) requirements and will feature advanced driver assistance systems.
Their safety equipment will include blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and driver fatigue monitoring systems.
First Solaris Electric Buses for Olomouc
Solaris and Dopravní podnik města Olomouce have worked together for many years, with the manufacturer having delivered 96 buses to the Czech operator to date.

Solaris Expands Zero-Emission Bus Presence in Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is one of Solaris’s key European markets. The manufacturer has supplied buses and trolleybuses to Czech cities and public transport operators as they transition toward zero-emission mobility.
Solaris has delivered nearly 1,500 vehicles to Czech customers, including more than 500 zero-emission vehicles. These comprise battery-electric and hydrogen buses as well as trolleybuses.
