Yamaha Motor’s subsidiary Enyring is set to debut a new e-bike series in Berlin and Amsterdam in the fourth quarter of 2025, offering a battery subscription model integrated with a city-wide battery swapping network. The initiative will introduce four distinct e-bike models, supported by a standardized 480Wh, 48V swappable battery system.
Enyring, established by Yamaha in early 2024, aims to deliver flexible, sustainable battery solutions for compact electric vehicles, particularly e-bikes, through a subscription-based approach. In its upcoming rollout, the company will install around 40 battery swap stations in Berlin and 20 in Amsterdam, all within a 2-kilometre radius in the urban core. Enyring says the swap process takes under 20 seconds, and each station is designed to adjust charging speeds based on usage demand and perform full battery health checks with each cycle.
The launch lineup includes four models: the ER/01 city bike, ER/02 sport city bike, ER/03 longtail e-bike, and ER/04 cargo bike. Pricing details for the bikes and the subscription service have yet to be announced, though the company expects to provide further updates following its unveiling at VELO Berlin. Enyring emphasizes its environmental focus, stating that batteries no longer fit for e-bike use will be either reused or recycled as part of a circular sustainability strategy.
Enyring’s infrastructure is being developed in partnership with Swobbee, which will supply both hardware and key software for the battery-swapping system. Swobbee previously collaborated with Yamaha on a shared e-moped service in Berlin using Yamaha’s NEO electric scooters. With Enyring’s €27 million investment to date and a closed-loop battery platform in development, the company aims to streamline urban mobility while reducing operational and environmental costs.
