Xiaomi has started deliveries of its high-performance SU7 Ultra electric sedan, with demand for the vehicle significantly exceeding the company’s initial projections.
Xiaomi EV, the electric vehicle division of the Chinese tech giant, announced on Weibo that the first SU7 Ultra units were handed over to customers at its Beijing factory on Saturday. The company officially launched the performance variant on February 27, based on the standard SU7 but with a maximum output of 1,548 Ps.

Priced at RMB 529,900 ($72,750), the SU7 Ultra is RMB 285,000, or 34.97% lower than Xiaomi’s previously marketed pre-sales price of RMB 814,900. The model quickly attracted strong consumer interest, with more than 6,900 orders placed within the first 10 minutes of availability and 10,000 orders secured in just two hours, surpassing Xiaomi’s full-year sales target for the vehicle.
Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, revealed that firm orders for the SU7 Ultra have reached 19,000 units, while locked-in orders have exceeded 10,000 units. “The SU7 Ultra was originally planned to have a sales target of 10,000 units this year, which is by no means a low target, but sales have progressed far beyond expectations so far,” Lei said on Weibo.

Xiaomi is offering buyers a seven-day hesitation period, allowing firm-order holders to cancel and receive a refund on the RMB 20,000 deposit. However, deposits for locked-in orders remain non-refundable.
The strong demand for the SU7 Ultra comes after Xiaomi’s standard SU7 sedan, launched on March 28 last year, secured over 248,000 locked-in orders, with cumulative deliveries exceeding 135,000 units. Lei previously set a 2025 sales target of 10,000 units for the SU7 Ultra, citing the relatively small market for sedans priced above RMB 500,000 in China, which saw total sales of 121,000 units last year.
