Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra, an ultra-performance electric sedan, hit its full-year sales target within two hours of launch, highlighting the company’s ability to generate strong consumer interest in its high-performance EVs. The rapid surge in orders reinforces Xiaomi’s ambitious push into the electric vehicle market, where it aims to challenge established luxury brands.
“Two hours into sales, firm orders over 10,000 units, reaching a key goal, thanks to everyone!” Xiaomi’s automotive division, Xiaomi EV, announced on Weibo early Friday morning Beijing time. The immediate demand reflects the growing appeal of Xiaomi’s EV lineup, following the success of the standard SU7 sedan launched earlier this year.

Unveiled at an event last night, the SU7 Ultra builds upon the regular SU7 model with significant performance upgrades. The sedan boasts a maximum horsepower of 1,548 Ps and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 1.98 seconds, reaching 200 kilometers per hour in 6.09 seconds. Xiaomi claims the SU7 Ultra is the fastest four-door production car available, positioning it as a rival to high-end performance models from automakers like Porsche.
The vehicle starts at RMB 529,900 ($72,730), marking a notable RMB 285,000, or nearly 35%, reduction from its previously marketed pre-sales price of RMB 814,900. The price cut is substantial enough to cover the cost of a regular SU7 sedan, which launched on March 28, 2024, with a starting price of RMB 215,900.

Xiaomi began accepting orders for the SU7 Ultra at 10 p.m. Beijing time on Thursday, requiring a refundable deposit of RMB 20,000. Buyers have a seven-day hesitation period during which they can cancel their order for a full refund. For those seeking expedited delivery, a non-refundable deposit of RMB 40,000 secures priority allocation.
Demand was swift, with Xiaomi EV reporting over 6,900 firm orders within the first 10 minutes of availability. By the two-hour mark, the model had surpassed its annual sales target, reinforcing Xiaomi’s strategy of leveraging its brand strength and competitive pricing to attract buyers.
