British commercial vehicle manufacturer Tevva has completed assembling its first series production battery electric truck, the 7.5 ton Tevva. The vehicle was off the assembly line in Tilbury, Essex, where it was handed over to Kinaxia Logistics, which operates in the UK’s transport, warehouse and fulfillment sectors.
The 7.5-ton battery electric truck is the first in a series of Tevva commercial vehicles including the 7.5 and 12-ton hydrogen electric trucks, as well as the 19-ton dual energy concept vehicle model unveiled at IAA Transportation in Hanover.
The 7.5-ton battery electric truck model offers a range of up to 180km, while the Tevva 7.5-ton hydrogen electric truck has a range of up to 440km due to its range-extending technology.
The Tevva truck, which comes with both left and right wheel drive, delivers the best-in-class combination of capability and cost-efficiency of a mid-duty truck with zero-emissions in the exhaust, while offering the durability and certainty of traditional fossil fuel trucks.
“The vehicle has undergone extensive testing. The Tevva truck recently completed a hot weather test in the Sierra Nevada, Spain, where it repeatedly climbed to an altitude of over 2,500 meters with a full load of 2.5 tons,” said Tevva CEO and founder, Asher Bennett.
According to Asher, the truck has also traveled 300km north of the Finnish Arctic Circle as part of its cold-weather testing. Tevva trucks have delivered nearly half a million kilometers in fleet testing.
The truck assembly is a testament to the hard work of the Tevva team at its production facility in Tilbury. The company also plans to go into more detail about its planned sales in Europe at the IAA Transportation 2022 event in Hanover, Germany.
Kinaxia Logistics plans to pilot Tevva’s first electric vehicle as an element of its overall environmental reduction strategy.
