StoreDot, a developer of extreme fast charging (XFC) battery technology, has entered a licensing agreement with South Korean battery manufacturer Kumyang to bring XFC cylindrical cells to mass production.
The partnership focuses on the 4680 battery format, integrating StoreDotâs technology with Kumyangâs manufacturing expertise.

The collaboration aims to produce EV batteries capable of charging from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes while maintaining high energy density and longevity. StoreDot stated that initial tests of the 4695 format have demonstrated a cycle life exceeding 1,000 standard charge cycles.
âThis license agreement is an important milestone for StoreDot that will make our XFC technology available in the cylindrical format, in addition to the pouch and prismatic formats currently available,â said StoreDot CEO Dr. Doron Myersdorf. Kumyang CEO Ryu Kwanghyun added, âThis collaboration aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering cutting-edge battery solutions that empower the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.â

StoreDotâs â100inXâ roadmap targets charging 100 miles of range in five minutes by 2024 and reducing that time to three minutes by 2028.
The agreement with Kumyang marks the first mass production of XFC cylindrical cells, broadening options for EV manufacturers and supporting the global transition to electric mobility.
