Tesla has launched a new rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant of its Cybertruck in the United States, offering the longest driving range in the all-electric pickup lineup at a lower starting price of $69,990. The company announced the new model on social media platform X late Thursday.
The Cybertruck Long Range RWD becomes the most affordable model in the lineup, undercutting the Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version priced at $79,990 and the tri-motor Cyberbeast at $99,990. Buyers may also be eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit, bringing the effective price of the RWD version down to $62,490 before options.

Equipped with 18-inch standard wheels, the Long Range RWD model offers an estimated 350 miles of range on a single charge—outperforming the 325-mile AWD and the 320-mile Cyberbeast. It can add up to 147 miles of range in 15 minutes using Tesla’s Supercharger network. However, the new variant sacrifices several features available in higher trims. It is rated for a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and a payload capacity of 2,006 pounds, the lowest in the lineup. It also has the slowest acceleration, with a 0-60 mph time of 6.2 seconds.

Inside, the RWD Cybertruck features a tactical gray interior with textile seats, front heated seats, a basic console, and a seven-speaker audio system without noise cancellation. It lacks the 9.4-inch rear display found in more expensive trims. On the exterior, the variant comes with standard headlamps, tail lamps, and bed lamps, but lacks signature lighting and onboard power outlets. A soft tonneau cover, available for purchase, can extend the range by an additional 12 miles.

Despite these omissions, Tesla has retained some core features across the lineup. The new RWD trim includes the company’s steer-by-wire system, eight external cameras, a powered front trunk, and access to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) platform via the onboard AI4 computer. It also features mechanical rear locking differentials for basic off-road performance.
Deliveries for the Cybertruck Long Range RWD are expected to begin between June and July 2025.
