Danish furniture retailer Jysk has introduced electric trucks in Denmark for the first time, replacing diesel vehicles for container transport between the port of Aarhus and its distribution center in Uldum.
The two electric trucks, operated by logistics partner Dania Connect, complete eight round trips daily, moving more than 50 containers filled with products such as mattresses, bed linen, and garden furniture. “We are pleased that we now, together with Dania Connect, have electric trucks on the Danish roads to transport our goods,” said Ole Thomsen, Jysk’s Executive Vice President of Logistics. “Even though our global logistics network requires different solutions, I have great expectations for the learnings from these electric trucks to expand the scheme.”
Dania Connect has set a goal of running 50% of its fleet on electricity by 2030. “We believe that this is the way forward to create a more sustainable transport in the future,” said Frank Hjortekær-Jensen, the company’s owner.
Jysk has already integrated electric trucks into its Swedish logistics operations, using electric trains for long-haul transport and electric trucks for last-mile deliveries. The company continues to explore sustainable alternatives to reduce its carbon footprint across its supply chain.
