HelloFresh has added 70 all-electric delivery vans from Rivian to its U.S. fleet, becoming the first major commercial customer to adopt the vehicles since the electric vehicle maker ended its exclusivity agreement with Amazon.
The new Rivian vans now make up nearly a quarter of HelloFresh’s delivery fleet and have contributed to an estimated savings of 20,000 gallons of gasoline, the company said in a blog post published Wednesday. HelloFresh added that the switch to electric vehicles has reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 200 metric tonnes.

“We’re proud to be the first customer to incorporate these new electric vans into our operations,” HelloFresh stated in its blog, adding that the move supports its broader sustainability goals.
Rivian ended its exclusive delivery van agreement with Amazon in November 2023, allowing the EV maker to seek additional fleet customers. The automaker officially opened its commercial fleet business to outside companies in February 2025, following a year of preparation that included expanding its service and digital infrastructure and piloting vehicles with potential clients.

While Rivian had conducted trials with other businesses, HelloFresh is the first to publicly announce its role as a commercial fleet customer. Rivian continues to produce vehicles for Amazon, which had ordered 100,000 vans from the EV startup in 2019. As of February 2025, Amazon had deployed 20,000 Rivian vans in its logistics network.
