BYD’s premium brand Denza has launched a battery-electric version of its N8L six-seat SUV, adding a fully electric powertrain to a model that was previously offered only as a plug-in hybrid.
The Denza N8L BEV is available in two variants in China. The Flash Charging Prestige is priced at 299,800 yuan ($44,280), while the Flash Charging Flagship costs 329,800 yuan.
The electric SUV uses a 130.15-kWh second-generation Blade Battery and an 800-volt electrical architecture. It supports BYD’s flash charging technology and has a claimed CLTC driving range of up to 960 kilometres.
Rear-Wheel Drive With 370-KW Motor
The N8L BEV is powered by a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, producing up to 370 kW, equivalent to 496 horsepower.
The electric version retains the dimensions of the plug-in hybrid model. It measures 5,200 millimetres in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,820 mm in height, with a 3,075-mm wheelbase.
The SUV provides seating for six occupants in a 2+2+2 configuration.
Denza has also added a 208-litre powered front trunk, or frunk, for additional storage. The compartment includes a capped drain opening that allows users to rinse it, a feature aimed at carrying camping equipment and other items that may become dirty during outdoor activities.
Air Suspension And Rear-Wheel Steering
The N8L BEV is equipped with BYD’s DiSus-A body control system, which incorporates dual-chamber air suspension and continuously variable damping (CDC) dampers.
Rear-wheel steering helps reduce the vehicle’s minimum turning radius to 4.58 metres, improving manoeuvrability for a large SUV.
The vehicle also features the LiDAR-equipped God’s Eye 5.0 driver-assistance system. According to Denza, the system supports navigation-assisted driving on highways and urban roads, as well as automated parking functions.
N8L Lineup Expands Beyond Plug-In Hybrid
The N8L was originally launched in October 2025 as a plug-in hybrid model.
Denza replaced that original version with a flash-charging plug-in hybrid in June 2026. That model starts at 319,800 yuan and uses a 75.26-kWh second-generation Blade Battery, providing a claimed CLTC electric-only range of 430 kilometres.
The new BEV version gives buyers a choice between a fully electric drivetrain and the existing plug-in hybrid configuration, while also expanding Denza’s use of BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology.
Flash Charging Cuts Charging Time
BYD’s flash charging technology is designed to significantly reduce charging times at dedicated flash charging stations.
The company says compatible vehicles can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
The N8L BEV therefore combines a large battery, 800-volt architecture and high-power charging capability with the practicality of a six-seat SUV, giving Denza another route to attract buyers seeking long electric driving range and rapid charging.
