Decathlon has rolled out a refreshed version of its Van Rysel E-GRVL AF HD Mahle X35 electric gravel bike in select European markets, now equipped with a 12-speed drivetrain and a new GPS display system. The upgraded model replaces the previous 11-speed setup and is available in countries including France and Spain for €2,899.99—the same price as its predecessor.
The updated E-GRVL now features an SRAM Apex 1×12 groupset, offering improved gearing over the earlier 1×11 configuration. Another significant change is the transition from the Mahle Pulsar One display to Decathlon’s in-house BC900 GPS cyclometer. This unit offers Bluetooth connectivity and integrates with the Decathlon Connect app, allowing riders to sync ride history and performance data directly to their smartphones.
The rest of the e-bike’s core specifications remain unchanged. It continues to use the Mahle X35+ rear hub motor delivering 40Nm of torque across three assistance levels, supported by a 250Wh battery offering a range of up to 100 km (62 miles). Built on a lightweight 6061 T6 aluminum frame with a carbon fork, the medium size of the bike weighs 14.5 kg (approximately 32 lbs).
The Van Rysel E-GRVL AF HD is fitted with Hutchinson Touareg 700×45 gravel tires and SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes for enhanced off-road performance. It also comes equipped with front and rear lights and is available in six frame sizes from XS to XXL.
Launched initially in 2024, the Van Rysel E-GRVL has gained popularity as a lightweight, versatile electric gravel bike. By maintaining the same retail price while introducing a higher-spec drivetrain and advanced navigation features, Decathlon aims to remain competitive in the growing e-gravel segment.
