Indian electric bus manufacturer Olectra Greentech Limited has deployed 60 new electric buses in Hyderabad, expanding the fleet operated by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC). The rollout also involves Evey Trans Private Limited, an electric bus operator and sister company of Olectra Greentech. Tesla has reduced the entry price of the Model Y in India by introducing a new Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant and removing the more expensive Long Range RWD version from its lineup. India is considering a support programme worth more than $1 billion to encourage private-sector adoption of electric buses and trucks, Business Standard reported, as the government looks to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels and accelerate commercial fleet electrification. The proposed scheme, which is still under discussion, would run for 10 years and primarily target privately operated commercial vehicles, with inter-city electric bus operators expected to receive the largest share of incentives. Bosch has announced plans to establish a 50:50 joint venture with Brakes India and Wheels India, both part of TSF Group, to develop electronically controlled air systems for commercial vehicles. MathWorks has introduced new Hardware Support Packages connecting its MATLAB and Simulink platforms with microcontrollers from Renesas Electronics for automotive and industrial applications. The new integrations support Renesas’ RH850/U2A automotive microcontroller and RA6T2 industrial microcontroller platforms, enabling engineers to move directly from simulation to embedded code deployment with automated build, flashing and execution workflows. Mahindra plans to launch six new passenger electric vehicles over the next five years as the automaker accelerates its electrification strategy and expands manufacturing capacity in India. During the company’s fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings conference call on May 5, Rajesh Jejurikar said Mahindra had already introduced four of the electric vehicles originally announced under its EV roadmap and now intends to add three more models to the programme. Valeo has opened a new high-definition surround-view camera production line at its Sanand facility in Gujarat, India, as the French automotive supplier expands local manufacturing of advanced driver assistance technologies for domestic vehicle manufacturers. PepsiCo has deployed eight retrofitted electric trucks for its logistics operations in India, in partnership with Vayudoot Road Carriers, as part of efforts to reduce emissions across its supply chain. The company said the 32-foot single-axle electric container trucks will operate along a 115-kilometre route between Kosi in Uttar Pradesh and Pataudi in Haryana, with additional deployment planned on a longer 126-kilometre route to Delhi. Indian charge point operator ChargeZone has announced plans to deploy more than 1,000 fast-charging stations along major national highway corridors, with completion targeted by March 2027. The company said each site will require a minimum investment of 10 million rupees (around €92,500) and will be developed under a franchise-based Dealer Owned, Company Operated (DOCO) model.
