Bosch has announced plans to establish a 50:50 joint venture with Brakes India and Wheels India, both part of TSF Group, to develop electronically controlled air systems for commercial vehicles.
The companies said the venture will focus on software-driven technologies covering air compression, air processing, suspension systems and parking brake modules for trucks and buses.
The joint venture is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
According to the companies, the new entity will be registered in Chennai and will directly manage sales within India, while the global supply chain outside China will remain under the existing Bosch, Brakes India and Wheels India organizations.
The companies added that the transaction has been approved by the boards of all participating entities, including Bosch Limited.
Markus Heyn, member of the board of management of Robert Bosch and chairman of Bosch Mobility, said software-defined systems will play an increasingly important role in commercial vehicle technology.
“Software will make commercial vehicles even smarter, more modular, and more cost-efficient in the future,” Heyn said.
“With our extensive electronics and systems expertise, we will jointly create an attractive range of high-performance compressed air systems. Bosch is thus expanding its comprehensive portfolio for trucks and strengthening its leading role in the commercial vehicle industry,” he added.
The companies said Wheels India will contribute its experience in air suspension systems for buses, while Brakes India will provide expertise in pneumatic braking systems.
The partners said the venture is intended to support the broader transition toward electronically controlled and software-driven technologies in the commercial vehicle sector.
The announcement comes as commercial vehicle manufacturers increasingly adopt digitalized braking, suspension and control systems to improve efficiency, safety and vehicle performance.
