Montra Electric has deployed a fleet of 100 electric refrigerated trucks in partnership with Green Drive Mobility and TVS Vehicle Mobility Solutions to support the cold chain logistics operations of Indian grocery retailer More Retail.
The deployment marks a significant step in the electrification of temperature-controlled logistics in India, where demand for efficient and sustainable delivery solutions is rising alongside the rapid expansion of quick-commerce services.
All 100 vehicles are based on Montra Electric’s Eviator 350 electric small truck platform and will be used to transport temperature-sensitive products across More Retail’s distribution network.
Supporting Temperature-Controlled Deliveries
The new electric reefer fleet is designed to transport goods within a temperature range of -25°C to 25°C, enabling the delivery of frozen, chilled, and fresh products while maintaining cold chain integrity.
The vehicles will support More Retail’s quick-commerce operations, which require reliable and timely transportation of perishable goods from distribution centers to fulfillment hubs and retail locations.
As consumer demand for faster grocery deliveries continues to grow, retailers are increasingly investing in logistics solutions capable of maintaining strict temperature controls while reducing operating emissions.
Eviator 350 Specifications
The deployment utilizes Montra Electric’s Eviator 350 variant, which is powered by a 32 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
According to the company, the vehicle delivers a driving range of up to 130 kilometers on a single charge and is equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 80 kW of power and 300 Nm of torque.
The truck offers a payload capacity of up to 1.7 tonnes and accommodates three occupants in the cabin.
Its cargo area measures 3.145 meters in length, 1.750 meters in width, and 2.020 meters in height, which Montra Electric says provides one of the largest loading decks in the segment.
Features Designed for Commercial Operations
Depending on the configuration, the Eviator range is available with several technology and convenience features, including LED headlamps with daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, air conditioning, and USB connectivity.
Safety systems include advanced driver assistance technologies, Hill Hold Assist, a reverse parking camera, and fog lamps.
Montra Electric introduced additional Eviator variants earlier this year, expanding its electric commercial vehicle lineup to address different logistics and transportation requirements.
Growing Demand for Electric Cold Chain Logistics
The deployment reflects increasing interest in electrified cold chain transportation as logistics providers seek to reduce emissions and operating costs while meeting growing delivery demands.
Temperature-controlled logistics is considered one of the more challenging segments for commercial vehicle electrification due to the additional energy requirements of refrigeration systems.
Montra Electric says the Eviator 350 has been specifically developed to address these challenges by combining electric propulsion with integrated refrigeration capabilities.
“Cold chain logistics is one of the most demanding segments in urban transport, where performance, precision, and uptime are non-negotiable,” said Saju Nair, CEO of Montra Electric (e-SCV).
“With the Eviator 350, we have developed a purpose-built solution that integrates refrigeration with electric mobility seamlessly.”
The latest deployment strengthens Montra Electric’s presence in India’s commercial EV market and highlights the growing role of electric vehicles in supporting sustainable logistics operations across the country.
