Dacia Spring, known as the most budget-friendly electric car in Europe, is gearing up to face stiff competition from newcomers like the Citroen e-C3 and the upcoming Fiat Panda in the urban EV segment. To stay competitive, Dacia is reportedly planning a significant update, hinted at by an official teaser image.
The teaser, shared on social media by Dacia France, offers a glimpse of the upcoming model without revealing its name. However, the proportions suggest that it is likely a new version of the Dacia Spring, rather than the slightly larger Sandero. The current Spring recently received a substantial discount in Germany, bringing its starting price down to as low as €12,750 ($13,740) with subsidies.

A closer look at the teaser image suggests that both the front and rear ends of the car have been redesigned. The headlights resemble those of the new Dacia Duster, while the tail features angular elements reminiscent of the Sandero Stepway. The ground clearance appears to be increased, and the wheels look larger, giving the EV a more crossover-like appearance despite the absence of roof rails. It wouldn’t be surprising if the new model also boasts an updated interior inspired by the new Duster.
The Dacia Spring made its debut in 2020 and received a minor facelift in 2022, which included a revised grille sporting the new Dacia emblem. In 2023, Dacia introduced the range-topping Extreme trim, offering more features and a higher power output. Currently, the Spring is available with a choice of two electric motors, producing 44 hp (33 kW / 45 PS) or 64 hp (48 kW / 65 PS), paired with a 26.8 kWh battery pack that provides a WLTP range of 220-225 km (137-140 miles).

Given the increasing demands of EV buyers, even in the entry-level segment, it is expected that the 2024 update will go beyond a mere facelift. Dacia may enhance the specifications of the Spring to make it more competitive with newer rivals.
Although the teaser does not provide a specific debut date, reports suggest that the new Dacia Spring could be unveiled as early as February 21. Additionally, the updates introduced with the new Spring are likely to be adopted by its Renault Kwid twin, which is available in other emerging markets.
