Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Yutong has delivered 400 battery-electric buses to Pakistan, marking the country’s largest single order of new energy buses to date.
The buses have been deployed in Punjab Province, where they will gradually enter service across 19 cities and districts as part of efforts to modernize public transport.

The delivery includes Yutong’s E12PRO and E9 models, both adapted to suit local operating conditions. The company said it customized the buses with features designed for Pakistan’s hot climate, including a Nitrogen Protection System to reduce the risk of battery fires.
The E12PRO variant also features dual middle doors to improve passenger flow and a differentiated seating layout separating front and rear sections to balance capacity with local preferences.

To support ongoing operations, Yutong has established a direct service network with eight service outlets and a mobile support team. The 56-member team, comprising both Chinese and local staff, provides maintenance and technical assistance, while more than 80 service training sessions have been conducted for over 1,000 participants in Pakistan.
Yutong said the deployment of the 400 electric buses is expected to generate more than 1,500 direct and indirect jobs in areas such as driving, maintenance, and cleaning, contributing to local economic and social development.
