The Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan authority has opened 86 electric vehicle charging stations to the public after taking over infrastructure previously reserved for Renault Group’s car-sharing subsidiary, Mobilize Share.
The move follows the discontinuation of Mobilize Share’s car-sharing operations in the region on 30 June 2026 as part of a wider restructuring of the business.
Charging Stations Reopened for Public Use
Following refurbishment, the former Mobilize charging stations have been integrated into the metropolitan area’s public charging network, allowing all battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle drivers to access the facilities.
The charging points are now part of the “Prise de Nice” network, the official public charging programme operated by the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan area.
Network Expansion
Of the 86 charging points, 80 are located in the city of Nice, increasing the city’s publicly accessible charging network by approximately 20%.
The chargers are distributed across several districts, including the Promenade des Anglais, Nice West, the Port of Nice, Old Town, the city centre, Thiers Station, South Station, Boulevard de Cessole and Place Alexandre Médecin.
The remaining six charging points are located in the neighbouring municipalities of Villefranche-sur-Mer, Carros and Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Following Mobilize’s Withdrawal
Mobilize Share previously operated the charging stations alongside dedicated parking spaces for its short-term electric vehicle rental service.
Renault Group’s mobility subsidiary announced plans to scale back the business in late 2025, with services in Nice ending at the close of June 2026.
By transferring the infrastructure into the public charging network, the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan authority has retained the charging assets while expanding access to public charging facilities for electric vehicle users across the region.
