California-based electric truck operator WattEV has ordered 40 Tesla Semi vehicles, with the first two units already delivered and deployed at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. The remaining trucks are expected to arrive by the end of next year.
“Tesla Semi is the only truck in the market that can deliver 500 miles on a single charge, with superb energy efficiency and fast charging,” said Salim Youssefzadeh, CEO of WattEV. The company, which operates electric truck fleets and charging infrastructure, plans to equip its depot with Tesla’s fourth-generation Superchargers.

WattEV is expanding its charging network to accommodate megawatt charging via the MCS standard, a move Youssefzadeh describes as essential for future-proofing its infrastructure. “Our collaboration with Tesla is another major milestone as we expand our network to electrify freight on more routes throughout California and beyond,” he said.
The company aims to deploy 12,000 heavy-duty electric trucks in California by 2030 and establish 100 charging stations by 2035. WattEV previously ordered 50 Volvo VNR Electric trucks in 2022 and 14 Nikola Tre BEVs in 2023 to support its growing fleet.
