Volvo has introduced the ES90, an electric saloon featuring the automaker’s latest 800-volt battery technology, enabling faster charging and improved efficiency.
The vehicle, which follows the EX90 SUV on Volvo’s dedicated EV platform, is now available for order across several European markets, with additional regions to follow through 2026.

Unlike its predecessor, the S90, Volvo positions the ES90 as a distinct model that blends elements of a saloon, fastback, and SUV coupe. It features a long 3.10-metre wheelbase, a closed front grille, and Volvo’s signature vertical rear lights. The ES90 is built on the company’s new ‘Superset’ technology package, a modular hardware and software system designed for future EV models.
The ES90 debuts with an 800-volt architecture, allowing charging speeds of up to 350 kW. Volvo claims the vehicle can add 300 km of range in just 10 minutes at a fast-charging station. The entry-level Single Motor variant is powered by a 245 kW motor on the rear axle, coupled with a 92 kWh battery (88 kWh usable), delivering up to 650 km of WLTP range.

The all-wheel-drive Twin Motor versions use a 106 kWh battery (102 kWh usable), with a range of up to 700 km. A high-performance Twin Motor Performance variant produces 500 kW and 870 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 kph in 4.0 seconds. Despite the power output, Volvo maintains its 180 kph top-speed limit across all models.
Inside, the ES90 is equipped with a 14.5-inch central touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip and Google-based software. A secondary nine-inch display provides essential driving information. Other features include an optional Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 25 speakers, an air filtration system capable of removing 95% of PM2.5 particles, and a panoramic glass roof with an electrochromic tinting option.

Jim Rowan, Volvo’s CEO, described the ES90 as a key step in the company’s transition to software-defined vehicles. “It joins the EX90 as one of our flagship models and cements our position as an industry leader in core computing and EV technology,” Rowan said.
The ES90 is currently available for order in multiple European countries, including Germany, France, the UK, and Sweden, with additional markets expected to be added later this year and into 2026.
