Deepal, the electric vehicle brand owned by Changan Automobile, has launched an updated S05 electric SUV in China, with limited-time prices starting at 115,900 yuan ($17,070) as the automaker seeks to maintain momentum in one of its key volume models.
The refreshed S05 is offered in five variants with official prices ranging from 119,900 yuan ($17,660) to 151,900 yuan. Limited-time discounts of between 4,000 yuan and 7,000 yuan reduce the effective prices to between 115,900 yuan and 144,900 yuan.
The model is divided into 520 and 620 versions based on their respective CLTC driving ranges.
Five Variants Offer 520 Km And 620 Km Range
The 520 range family comprises three variants, with limited-time prices of 115,900 yuan, 122,900 yuan and 134,900 yuan.
The 620 range lineup consists of two versions priced at 132,900 yuan and 144,900 yuan during the promotional period.
The highest-specification variant in each range group receives LiDAR hardware, while the other three versions are offered without the sensor.
The S05 measures 4,620 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,600 mm high, with a 2,880 mm wheelbase. Cargo capacity includes 492 litres at the rear and a 159-litre front trunk.
Unlike some other Deepal models, the refreshed S05 is offered solely as a battery-electric vehicle.
CATL Batteries Support Up To 620 Km
The electric SUV uses a single rear-mounted motor producing up to 200 kW, equivalent to about 268 horsepower.
Deepal quotes a 0-to-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.28 seconds.
Both battery options are supplied by CATL, with capacities of 56.12 kWh and 68.82 kWh. They provide claimed CLTC ranges of 520 km and 620 km respectively.
All five versions support 3C fast charging. Deepal says the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in no more than 15 minutes.
The combination of a larger battery option and faster charging is aimed at improving the S05’s competitiveness in China’s increasingly crowded compact electric SUV segment.
LiDAR And 256 TOPS Computing Added
The two LiDAR-equipped variants use a 128-channel sensor supplied by Hesai.
The LiDAR works alongside 26 additional sensors to create the vehicle’s environmental perception system.
Deepal has also equipped these versions with two J6M autonomous-driving processors from Horizon Robotics. Together, the chips provide 256 TOPS of computing power.
The system supports assisted-driving functions covering urban roads, highways and parking environments.
The hardware gives the higher-specification S05 versions a more advanced driver-assistance package while allowing the lower-priced variants to retain a simpler sensor configuration.
Updated S05 Strengthens Deepal Lineup
Deepal originally introduced the S05 in October 2024, when the model carried a starting price of 116,900 yuan.
The latest refresh forms part of the brand’s effort to update its established models as competition intensifies across China’s electric vehicle market.
Changan established Deepal in 2022. The brand’s current range includes the SL03, L06 and L07 sedans, alongside the S05, S07, S09 and G318 SUVs.
With its revised pricing, longer-range option, faster charging and expanded driver-assistance technology, the S05 remains positioned as one of Deepal’s more accessible electric SUVs while adding features aimed at maintaining its appeal in the mass-market EV segment.
