A revised version of the Denza Z9 GT, developed under BYD’s premium Denza brand, has appeared in a latest regulatory filing from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), revealing powertrain updates for both its pure electric and plug-in hybrid variants.
The filing suggests Denza is preparing an updated market version of the Z9 GT rather than a full model replacement. Exterior images submitted to regulators show the vehicle retains its existing body proportions and overall styling, with the most visible change being the relocation of the lidar sensor to a roof-mounted position. No interior images or cabin-related updates were disclosed.

For the pure electric lineup, the MIIT filing introduces a newly registered single-motor variant alongside the existing three-motor configuration. The single-motor version is rated at a maximum output of 370 kilowatts and is listed for both the Denza Z9 and Z9 GT battery-electric models. Curb weight varies across standard and extended-range single-motor versions, though battery capacity details for the extended-range variant were not specified.
The three-motor pure electric Denza Z9 GT receives a notable power increase. According to the filing, the front motor is rated at 230 kilowatts, while each of the two rear motors delivers 310 kilowatts, resulting in a combined system output of 850 kilowatts, or about 1,140 horsepower. The listed top speed for this configuration is 270 kilometers per hour. This compares with the current production version, which has a combined output of around 710 kilowatts.

The plug-in hybrid Denza Z9 GT is listed with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with three electric motors. The engine produces 152 kilowatts, while the front motor is rated at 200 kilowatts and each rear motor at 220 kilowatts, bringing combined electric motor output to 640 kilowatts. The hybrid system is matched with a 63.82-kilowatt-hour battery pack.
Regulatory data show the plug-in hybrid variant achieves a WLTC-rated pure-electric range of 301 kilometers and a CLTC-rated electric range of more than 400 kilometers. Fuel consumption under battery-depleted conditions is listed at 6.30 liters per 100 kilometers, with a top speed of 230 kilometers per hour.
The MIIT filing does not include pricing or a confirmed launch timeline. However, the disclosure indicates that Denza is advancing the updated Z9 GT toward production approval as it continues to expand its premium electric and electrified vehicle lineup in China.
