Trek Bicycle, the US-based cycling brand, has launched redesigned versions of its Fuel and Fuel+ trail bike platforms, featuring updated frame geometry, modular configurations, and expanded suspension options across three variants: EX, MX, and LX. The Fuel serves as a traditional analog mountain bike, while the Fuel+ represents its electric counterpart, equipped with a TQ HPR60 motor and a larger 580Wh battery.
The new Fuel and Fuel+ bikes offer three distinct setups tailored to diverse riding preferences. The EX model provides a balanced suspension with 145mm travel at the rear and 150mm upfront. The MX variant incorporates mixed wheel sizes, combining a 29-inch front wheel with a 27.5-inch rear wheel, alongside a more progressive shock curve. The LX is the longest-travel option, featuring 160mm rear and 170mm front suspension for more aggressive terrain.
Trek continues to support extensive customization through its Project One MTB program, allowing riders to tailor components such as drivetrain, suspension, cockpit, and wheels to their preferences. High-end Fuel, Fuel+, and Supercaliber models utilize carbon frames, whereas the Fuel 9 comes in aluminum.
For the Fuel+, Trek moves away from the previous Fuel EXe platform by pairing the integrated 60Nm TQ HPR60 motor with an upgraded 580Wh battery. This combination delivers improved performance under load and extends ride range for longer trail excursions. The higher-tier 9.8 and 9.9 models include a built-in LED display from TQ for real-time monitoring.
Additional frame updates include compatibility with a universal dropper post, enhanced internal storage options, and adjustable geometry through interchangeable rocker links and customizable cockpit setups. Adjustable head tube angles and the adoption of the new Zero Stack headset standard further enhance rider adaptability and bike handling.
