Toyota Motor Corporation has officially introduced the 2026 bZ, a refreshed version of its all-electric compact SUV previously known as the bZ4X. The update brings significant improvements in driving range, charging technology, performance, and design, accompanied by a simplified model name.
One of the key highlights is a 25% increase in range for the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant. The 2026 bZ AWD XLE is rated for up to 460 kilometers (285 miles) on a full charge, compared to 367 kilometers (228 miles) in the prior model.

The Limited AWD trim offers an estimated 430 kilometers (267 miles) of range, while front-wheel-drive (FWD) versions reach up to 378 kilometers (235 miles) with a 57.7-kWh battery pack. Select FWD models equipped with a larger 77-kWh battery pack are expected to deliver up to 314 miles (505 kilometers) in the U.S. market.
Toyota has adopted the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for the 2026 bZ, allowing access to Teslaās Supercharger network. The vehicle supports DC fast charging, replenishing battery capacity from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under optimal conditions.
Additionally, the onboard AC charger has been upgraded from 7 kW to 11 kW, which reduces home charging times. A new battery pre-conditioning system has been added as standard equipment to improve charging efficiency in cold weather.

The FWD versionās output rises to 168 horsepower.
The 2026 bZ features subtle yet impactful design revisions. The front fascia is sleeker with integrated slim LED daytime running lights, and body-colored overfenders offer a more unified look. Inside, the cabin has been refreshed with a redesigned dashboard and a larger 14-inch touchscreen multimedia system. The center console includes two wireless charging pads and is trimmed with soft-touch materials and customizable 64-color ambient lighting.
