Toyota has introduced the Urban Cruiser and started local assembly of the updated bZ4X electric vehicle in Indonesia, expanding its EV offerings in the Southeast Asian market. The Urban Cruiser will be imported from India, while the new bZ4X will be assembled locally in Karawang, West Java.
The Urban Cruiser, a niche model for Indonesia, is offered in a single configuration priced at 759 million rupiah (approximately €39,500). The imported unit features a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 128 kW and 192.5 Nm of torque, powered by a 59.8-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

Toyota says the Urban Cruiser delivers a WLTP-equivalent range of 427 kilometres and supports DC fast charging up to 67 kW, reaching 10%–80% state of charge in around 45 minutes. Safety and convenience features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and seven airbags.
The locally assembled bZ4X is offered in a single, range-focused configuration priced at 799 million rupiah (approximately €41,500). The EV uses a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor generating 165 kW and 268 Nm of torque, paired with a 69-kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery.
The company says the vehicle can travel up to 525 kilometres on a full charge and can charge from 10%–80% in 30 minutes using up to 150 kW DC. The bZ4X also features advanced technology and safety systems, including Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual wireless smartphone chargers, and eight airbags. Local assembly incorporates approximately 40% Indonesian-sourced components, according to reports.

Toyota has offered the Urban Cruiser and bZ4X in multiple configurations in Europe but has selected the middle, range-optimised variants for Indonesia, reflecting local market priorities for longer-range and fully featured EVs.
