Chery Group’s Omoda brand has selected Indonesia as the first market for the global launch of the all-electric O4 compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), opening pre-orders while showcasing the model at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026.
The company has not yet announced when customer deliveries will begin.
Indonesia Chosen for First EV Launch
The O4 EV measures 4.42 metres in length, 1.87 metres in width and 1.57 metres in height, with a wheelbase of 2.7 metres.
The model offers a turning radius of 5.1 metres and 190 millimetres of ground clearance.
Luggage capacity stands at 402 litres and expands to 1,126 litres with the rear seats folded. The vehicle also includes a front storage compartment, although its capacity has not been disclosed.
Single Powertrain Configuration
Omoda will offer the O4 EV in Indonesia in a single specification featuring a front-mounted electric motor producing 160 kW and 275 Nm of torque.
Power is supplied by a 65.05 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
The company said the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 175 km/h.
The battery supports DC fast charging at up to 119 kW, allowing charging from 20% to 80% in as little as 22 minutes.
The O4 EV delivers a driving range of up to 553 kilometres under the NEDC test cycle and supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) bidirectional charging.
Technology and Safety Features
The O4 EV comes equipped with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch 2K portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen.
Other features include a powered tailgate, a 50-watt wireless smartphone charger, ventilated power-adjustable front seats, and a 1.9-square-metre panoramic sunroof.
The SUV also includes 18 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Avoidance System and Traffic Jam Assist.
Local Assembly Planned
Omoda confirmed plans to assemble the O4 EV locally in Indonesia, although production arrangements have yet to be finalized.
The company currently works with contract manufacturer Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM), which operates assembly plants in Bekasi and Purwakarta, West Java.
However, Omoda Jaecoo Global Chief Executive Officer Shawn Xu said the existing manufacturing capacity is no longer sufficient to support the brand’s future expansion.
Beyond Indonesia, Omoda plans to introduce the O4 in Europe.
The company is expected to launch a hybrid version in the United Kingdom later this year, followed by the battery-electric variant.
