Toyota has unveiled the ninth-generation Hilux, offering a range of powertrain options including battery electric (BEV), hybrid, diesel, petrol, and a future hydrogen fuel cell model. The update follows the company’s multipath strategy, designed to address different market conditions and customer needs.
The new Hilux features a Double Cab body style, a revised exterior with slim headlights and integrated branding, and updated steps for easier access.

Interior updates include a horizontal center console, a digital instrument cluster, and an optional central touchscreen. Connectivity features allow remote monitoring and fleet management through the MyToyota app.
The BEV variant uses a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery with front and rear eAxles, offering estimated WLTP range of 240 km. Payload capacity is around 715 kg, and towing capacity is approximately 1,600 kg. Off-road functions, including Multi-Terrain Select, are included, and battery protection measures maintain wading depth similar to internal combustion engine (ICE) models.

The Hybrid 48V model integrates a 48V lithium-ion battery with a 2.8-liter engine, supporting payloads up to 1,000 kg and towing of 3,500 kg. Diesel and petrol engines will remain available in certain regional markets.
Toyota confirmed that a hydrogen fuel cell version of the Hilux is planned for 2028. Production of the new generation is scheduled to begin in spring 2026.
