BYD sold 419,211 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in July, marking its strongest monthly performance of 2026 as record overseas demand helped accelerate sales growth.

The July total increased 21.76% from a year earlier and rose 3.90% from June, according to figures released by the company.

July Sales Reach 2026 High

The result marked BYD’s third consecutive month of year-on-year sales growth and represented a significant improvement from June’s 5.46% increase.

Although July was the company’s highest monthly total this year, deliveries remained slightly below the record 420,398 vehicles sold in December 2025.

Passenger NEV sales reached 411,072 units, up 20.54% year on year and 3.47% from June.

Commercial NEV deliveries totaled 8,139 units, representing increases of 149.20% from a year earlier and 31.70% from the previous month.

Overseas Demand Continues to Drive Growth

Overseas markets remained BYD’s primary growth engine.

Passenger vehicle and pickup exports reached a record 179,841 units in July, up 124.3% year on year.

International deliveries accounted for approximately 43% of total monthly sales, broadly unchanged from June.

Based on the company’s figures, domestic sales totaled approximately 239,370 vehicles during the month, representing an estimated decline of around 9% from a year earlier, although the contraction was smaller than in previous months.

BYD said demand for its flash-charging vehicle lineup remained strong in China despite the seasonal slowdown typically seen during July.

The company said sales of the Da Tang exceeded 10,000 units, while deliveries of the Tai 7 EV approached 10,000 units.

BYD added that production of its second-generation Blade Battery continues to expand, although manufacturing capacity remains below market demand.

The company also said overseas demand continues to exceed available shipping capacity, making vehicle transportation one of the main constraints on international deliveries.

Brand Portfolio Shows Mixed Performance

The core BYD Auto brand, including the Dynasty and Ocean model families, delivered 350,178 vehicles in July.

Off-road brand Fang Cheng Bao posted a monthly record with sales of 41,213 vehicles, up 190.64% from a year earlier and 15.74% from June.

Premium brand Denza delivered 19,196 vehicles, increasing 68.76% year on year but declining 5.68% from the previous month.

Ultra-luxury marque Yangwang sold 485 vehicles, up 43.07% from a year earlier.

Seven-Month Sales Improve

During the first seven months of 2026, BYD sold 2,227,722 NEVs, down 10.54% from the same period last year.

The decline narrowed from the 15.72% decrease recorded during the first half of the year.

Overseas sales of passenger vehicles and pickups reached 969,208 units during the January-July period, accounting for approximately 43.5% of the group’s cumulative sales.

BYD said cumulative global sales of its new energy vehicles have now surpassed 17.3 million units.

The company has attributed earlier delivery delays to the transition from its first-generation Blade Battery to a second-generation version featuring flash-charging capability, with production continuing to ramp up to meet demand.
