Tesla has commenced deliveries of the updated Model Y in Australia, marking a significant milestone for the electric vehicle manufacturer. The first deliveries are scheduled for Thursday in Sydney, with the new Model Y variants being available for customers.
The updated Model Y comes in two primary configurations. The single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant is priced from $58,900 before on-road costs and offers a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.9 seconds.
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, starting at $68,900 before on-road costs, provides faster acceleration, reaching 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

In addition to improved performance, the AWD variant features a larger battery, providing a range of up to 551 km on a full charge, compared to the 466 km range offered by the RWD variant. The RWD model is equipped with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery, which can be charged to 100% without any concerns about battery longevity.
The newly launched variants are priced $4,500 lower than the original Launch Series vehicles, which included additional perks for early adopters, such as free paint, upgraded badging, and an acceleration boost for the AWD variant, which would typically be available at an extra cost.
