Chinese LiDAR manufacturer RoboSense has secured a large-scale supply order from FAW Toyota, agreeing to deliver nearly one million LiDAR units over the next five years for one of the automaker’s best-selling vehicle models.
The company said the order represents a renewed collaboration between the two firms, following a separate three-year supply agreement previously signed for another FAW Toyota battery-electric model. Although specific vehicle details were not disclosed, an image released by RoboSense suggests the LiDAR units may be destined for a sedan.

RoboSense first entered Toyota’s supply chain in February 2023, when it announced an agreement to provide LiDAR sensors for multiple vehicle models under the Japanese brand, becoming the first Chinese LiDAR manufacturer to achieve that status. The latest contract further expands RoboSense’s footprint within Toyota’s China operations as advanced driver-assistance and autonomous-driving functions become more widely adopted.
Founded in 2014, RoboSense has grown into one of China’s largest LiDAR suppliers, with a portfolio spanning short-, medium- and long-range sensing solutions. The company reported deliveries of more than 150,000 LiDAR units in November alone, reflecting rising demand from automakers integrating higher levels of driving automation.
