RAW Charging will develop a flagship electric vehicle charging hub at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent as part of a £24.5 million programme to expand charging infrastructure across major retail and leisure sites in the United Kingdom.
The project forms part of a long-term partnership with property group Landsec, covering the installation of more than 1,000 charging bays across 28 locations. These include prominent destinations such as Gunwharf Quays, White Rose Shopping Centre, and Brighton Marina.

In total, the rollout will include 554 AC chargers and 446 DC rapid chargers, aimed at enabling drivers to recharge their vehicles during typical retail visits of 30 minutes to one hour.
The initiative also includes upgrading and replacing existing charging infrastructure at Landsec-owned sites. All chargers will support contactless payments and integration with major EV charging applications, though specific platforms were not disclosed.

Landsec said the expansion reflects a shift toward embedding EV charging into everyday consumer activity, leveraging high footfall across its retail portfolio.
“As more drivers switch to electric, retail destinations have a clear responsibility to make charging simple, accessible and part of everyday life,” said Ben Padley, Head of Consumer at Landsec.
“Through this partnership, we’re embedding high-quality, future-ready EV infrastructure across our portfolio, including plans for what will become the UK’s largest destination charging hub at Bluewater,” he added.
