Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio, has released the first official image of its second model, the Onvo L90, as it gears up for entry into China’s competitive electric vehicle (EV) market.
The image, shared on Onvo’s Weibo account today, reveals a side view of the L90, albeit wrapped in camouflage. “The flagship SUV for large family spaces, the Onvo L90, is rechargeable, swappable, a better experience than refueling, and a better pure electric than pure electric,” the company wrote in its post.

Onvo President Alan Ai reposted the announcement, hinting at direct competition with Li Auto’s upcoming Li i8. “Onvo L90, our flagship SUV for large family spaces, will be meeting everyone soon,” Ai wrote. “Congrats also on the announcement of the pure electric SUV Li i8, power up together.”
The L90 is expected to be a flagship three-row SUV designed for large families, Ai previously stated in a February 21 video discussion with Charles Zhang, founder of Chinese news portal Sohu. The model is slated for its first public debut in the second quarter of this year, with an official market launch planned for the third quarter.

Onvo entered the market with its first model, the L60, a five-seat mid-size SUV launched on September 19, 2024, followed by deliveries beginning on September 28.
The unveiling of the L90 comes amid increasing competition in China’s EV sector, as Li Auto also released the first images of its all-electric Li i8 SUV earlier today. Li Auto, known for its extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), currently offers the Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9 SUVs. However, the company is now pivoting towards battery electric vehicles (BEVs) following the mixed market reception of its first BEV, the Li Mega MPV, which launched on March 1, 2024.

Li Auto originally planned to introduce additional BEV models in the second half of 2024 but postponed the launch to the first half of 2025 due to the Li Mega’s underperformance. The Li i8 is expected to be a crucial test for the company in the fully electric segment, positioning it in direct competition with Onvo’s upcoming flagship.
