Nio’s sub-brand Onvo is making strides toward the launch of its second model, internally codenamed “Blanc.” According to He Lei, CEO of automotive media outlet Xchuxing, the Onvo L80 has completed trial production and is entering the Tooling Trial (TT) stage, marking a significant step toward the start of production (SOP).
Earlier this month, Onvo’s vice president, Xia Qinghua, revealed that the new model is designed to compete with Li Auto’s Li L8 or Li L9. The vehicle is scheduled for release in the second half of 2025, signaling Onvo’s ambitions to solidify its position in the competitive SUV market.

Onvo debuted its first model, the L60, on September 19, 2024, a five-seat mid-size SUV with a starting price of RMB 206,900 ($28,420) inclusive of a battery pack.
For buyers opting for the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model, the price begins at RMB 149,900, with monthly rental fees ranging between RMB 599 and RMB 899. Deliveries of the L60 began shortly after its launch on September 28.
During a media briefing in September 2024, Nio CEO William Li hinted at Onvo’s plans for a mid-to-large-size SUV to be launched in 2025. He described the upcoming model as a groundbreaking product designed to surpass the L60 in competitiveness.

Further details from Nio’s November earnings call confirmed that Onvo plans to introduce two new SUV models in 2025: a six- or seven-seater and a large five-seater. Both are expected to rival offerings from Li Auto while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
