Nio’s sub-brand Onvo has officially named its second model the Onvo L90, dismissing earlier reports that suggested it would be called the Onvo L80. The announcement was made by Onvo president Alan Ai during a live video stream with Charles Zhang, founder of Chinese news portal Sohu.
“I had so much fun talking with Charles today that I revealed the Onvo L90 will be coming soon,” Ai wrote on Weibo.
Positioned as Onvo’s flagship SUV, the L90 will feature a three-row seating configuration, targeting large families. Ai confirmed that the model will debut in the second quarter of 2025 and is expected to officially launch in the third quarter.
Onvo introduced its first model, the L60, on September 19, 2024, and began deliveries later that month. Following its launch, Nio chairman and CEO William Li indicated that Onvo would introduce a mid-to-large-size SUV in 2025, calling it a “revolutionary product” with a third-quarter delivery target.
Onvo vice president Xia Qinghua previously stated that the brand would release a new SUV in the second half of 2025, competing with Li Auto’s Li L8 or Li L9. Earlier reports had suggested the model would be named the L80, and leaked spy shots fueled speculation. However, Ai’s announcement confirms that the model will carry the L90 nameplate as Onvo expands its lineup.
