MG Motor has released teaser images of its upcoming Cyber X, a new electric SUV set to debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 23. The Cyber X is the second vehicle under MG’s Cyber branding, following the Cyberster electric roadster, and appears aimed at a broader audience with a rugged, youthful design and SUV practicality.
The images showcase a boxy silhouette with a wide stance, flared fenders, and design elements intended to appeal to younger buyers. A full-width LED light bar and illuminated MG badge dominate the front, while flush door handles and roof rails suggest both tech-forward styling and utility.

At the rear, another light bar and angular D-pillars complete the vehicle’s modern aesthetic. The styling has drawn comparisons to the recently unveiled Smart #5 SUV, which may become one of the Cyber X’s primary competitors.
Technical specifications have not been fully disclosed, but reports from Chinese media suggest the Cyber X will ride on SAIC’s new E3 platform. This architecture supports both electric and hybrid drivetrains and incorporates a cell-to-body battery structure to improve efficiency by reducing weight. While MG has not confirmed whether the Cyber X will offer hybrid options, the closed-off front grille hints at a fully electric powertrain.

Additional rumored features include semi-solid-state batteries, advanced driver assistance systems, and enhanced smartphone connectivity. MG has signaled broader ambitions for its Cyber lineup, with plans to release more than six new vehicles through 2025, including a second-generation MG4, an updated Cyberster, and four EVs comprising both sedans and SUVs. Though not all models are expected to be offered in Europe, the Cyber X is likely to be part of MG’s international strategy.
