Mercedes-Benz Trucks has delivered the first two eActros 600 electric trucks to Dutch logistics provider Simon Loos, marking the initial phase of a 75-vehicle order announced last year. The trucks will be used for retail distribution by supermarket chain Lidl.
The order, revealed during the IAA Transportation event in Hanover in 2023, more than doubles Simon Loos’s existing electric fleet from 60 to 135 vehicles. Most of the company’s current electric trucks were also supplied by Daimler Truck, including earlier eActros 300 models.
“After months of intensive testing under various conditions, the two eActros 600 trucks have impressively proven their reliability,” said Wim Roks, Fleet Manager at Simon Loos. “While we previously planned trips of up to 300 kilometers with confidence, the eActros 600 now enables us to cover up to 500 kilometers per trip.”
The eActros 600 is equipped with a 621 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a driving range of up to 500 kilometers. The vehicle currently supports charging at 400 kW via CCS, with future capability for megawatt charging systems (MCS) exceeding 1,000 kW.
The trucks will primarily be used in branch operations, with overnight charging available at customer facilities. The model includes an electric power take-off (e-PTO) to operate refrigeration units on trailers, a key feature for food logistics.
Series production of the eActros 600 began in November 2024 at the Wörth am Rhein plant in Germany. Simon Loos was also the first operator outside of Germany to test the eActros 600 prior to launch.
