Jetour X-1 Electric Car Concept offers Huawei’s Level 3 autonomous driving system

Jetour Motors, which is a member of the Chery Holding Group, introduced the X-1 concept car which is equipped with a hybrid drive combined with a Level 3 autonomous driver system made by Huawei.

This hybrid SUV also features the latest advancements in ADAS, using technology from Huawei. It will initially offer Level 3 autonomy meaning it will be fully autonomous in certain scenarios but there will still be a driver to look after in an emergency, but the architecture will be compatible with full autonomy up to Level 5 for the future.

In addition, this concept car will also offer a lot of technology and connectivity in the cabin, although Jetour has only published images of the exterior.

The Jetour X-1 is based on a new architecture developed by Chery called Kunlun. Contrary to current trends, the vehicle is not a BEV, as the brand opted for the “Kunpeng DHT” plug-in hybrid powertrain instead.

In terms of performance, the Jetour X-1 is available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants, reportedly combining a 1,500 cc turbocharged petrol engine with several electric motors. While the combined output and battery capacity are not yet known, as a PHEV, the car will be capable of driving on its own electricity while offering good performance in certain driving modes.

The Jetour X-1 looks similar to the Chery Omoda 5 launched last month, but has unique panels including a “Transformers” style grille incorporating the main headlights.

The profile is largely the same as the Chery single which is typical of a compact SUV with sculpted lines and a smooth plastic finish that communicates its sporty character. At the rear, thin LED taillights extend towards the fenders with a large diffuser covering most of the rear bumper.
