Tesla’s Cybertruck has received the highest overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) following the agency’s crash testing procedures, marking a key milestone for the automaker’s latest electric vehicle.
According to the NHTSA’s report released this week, the Cybertruck earned a five-star rating overall, based on its performance in frontal and side crash tests, as well as an assessment of its rollover risk.

The electric pickup achieved five stars in both frontal and side crash categories, while its rollover rating was four stars, with a recorded rollover risk of 12.4%.
The NHTSA’s frontal crash evaluation considers both driver and front passenger safety during a collision, while the side crash test incorporates side barrier and pole impact assessments, accounting for crashworthiness from the perspective of both front and rear seat passengers.

Rollover resistance, a critical factor for vehicles with a high center of gravity, was measured through dynamic testing and statistical analysis.
This is the first official safety rating from the NHTSA for the Cybertruck since its market launch in November 2023. While Tesla had conducted internal crash testing before its release, the vehicle was not immediately assessed by federal regulators at the time of its introduction. The agency’s latest results now provide independent verification of the Cybertruck’s crash performance.
