Honda will introduce its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Malaysia later this year, with plans to roll out a total of three models in the country by 2027, the automaker said on Saturday.
The Japanese carmaker confirmed the e:N1, a fully electric small SUV, as the first model to be launched. It was showcased at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show last December to gauge consumer interest.

“Aligned with our 2025 business direction, we are set to energise the market with the debut of our first BEV, the e:N1,” said Honda Malaysia Managing Director and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura. “It paves the way for our three-year plan to introduce three new BEV models to the Malaysian market by 2027.”
Honda did not disclose details about the other two EVs planned for Malaysia, though local reports suggest they could come from the automaker’s upcoming 0 Series lineup. Honda has confirmed both left- and right-hand drive versions of the 0 SUV and 0 Saloon, which are set to debut in North America in 2026 before launching in Japan and Europe.

The e:N1, which is smaller and positioned at a lower price point, will be sourced from Honda’s Prachinburi plant in Thailand. In Thailand and Indonesia, the model is currently offered only through a rental program with a limited number of units.
Honda is ramping up its global EV push, planning to launch seven 0 Series models by 2030. The automaker also intends to introduce three EVs tailored for the Japanese market by 2026 and ten China-specific EVs by 2027.
