Genesis has officially removed the Electrified G80 from its U.S. lineup, marking the end of the luxury electric sedan’s brief run in the market. The move was first confirmed by Genesis to Car and Driver, which reported on Wednesday that the automaker would no longer offer the model in North America.
“The customer is at the core of every decision we make, and we remain flexible as we adapt to ever-changing consumer needs and market conditions,” a Genesis spokesperson told Car and Driver. The Electrified G80 has already been pulled from the company’s U.S. website, leaving the GV60 and Electrified GV70 as the only electric models listed.
The Electrified G80 initially launched in the U.S. in early 2023 but failed to gain momentum. The 2024 model featured an 87 kWh battery with an EPA-estimated range of 282 miles. Genesis later introduced an updated version in Korea with a larger 94.5 kWh battery and up to 295 miles of range, but the newer model was never sold in the U.S.
Genesis sold just 397 units of the Electrified G80 in 2024 and 77 more in the first half of 2025. By comparison, Lucid delivered over 5,000 Air sedans during the same six-month period, and Tesla sold 2,715 Model S vehicles. Genesis confirmed that 2024 was the final model year for the G80 EV in the U.S., and the 2025 model was never released domestically.
Though Genesis, along with other Korean automakers, avoided the full 25% tariff on imported EVs, it still faced a 15% duty — a potential factor in the decision to pull the vehicle. With the $7,500 federal EV tax credit set to expire at the end of September, Genesis is shifting its attention to remaining electric offerings, now offering an $18,000 lease bonus on the 2025 Electrified GV70 and a $13,750 bonus on the 2025 GV60. Leases currently start at $389 per month.
