Blink Charging, a leading charge point operator, has announced plans to install 50 electric vehicle charging stations across select locations in Mexico. The initiative is part of the Porsche Destination Programme and will offer free charging for Porsche drivers at participating sites. The new chargers will be deployed at premium hotels, retail centers, and restaurants throughout Mexico, according to a Blink statement. In addition to free charging at these locations, Porsche owners will receive a 35% discount at all other Blink Charging stations in the country. Swedish mining equipment manufacturer Epiroc has received an order from Canada’s Hudbay Minerals for a fleet of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to be deployed at the Lalor Mine in Manitoba, the company said on Thursday. The order, valued at approximately 100 million Swedish crowns ($9 million), includes battery-electric versions of the Boomer M20 SG longwall drill rig, Scooptram ST18 SG and ST14 SG loaders, and the Minetruck MT42 SG haul truck. Volvo Trucks South Africa has delivered two all-electric FH 6×4 truck tractors to Vector Logistics, marking a significant step toward sustainable food distribution in the country. The trucks will be used in Gauteng and Cape Town, paired with refrigerated trailers to support the company’s cold chain operations. Chinese battery maker CALB will invest €2 billion ($2.09 billion) in a lithium battery gigafactory in Portugal, with production expected to begin in 2028, the company said on Friday. The factory, to be built in Sines, around 100 km (62 miles) south of Lisbon, will have an annual production capacity of 15 gigawatt hours, equivalent to approximately 187,000 electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
