Ford Motor has launched pre-sales in China for its electric Bronco, signalling a renewed effort by the US automaker to strengthen its position in the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) market.
Pre-sale pricing for the electric Bronco starts at RMB 229,800 ($32,320), with the model offered in both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) configurations. The project is being led by Ford China rather than its joint ventures, Changan Ford and Jiangling Ford, although Jiangling Group has promoted the model on social media.

Ford is offering three EREV variants at RMB 229,800, RMB 249,800 and RMB 272,800 respectively, while the BEV lineup consists of two versions priced from RMB 259,800 and RMB 282,800.
The off-road-style SUV measures 5,025 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,825 mm in height, with a 2,950-mm wheelbase. The EREV version uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine as a range extender, producing 110 kW, paired with dual motors delivering peak outputs of 130 kW at the front and 180 kW at the rear.

The EREV configuration is equipped with a 43.7-kWh battery pack that provides a CLTC-rated 220-km battery range. When fully fueled and charged, the combined range reaches 1,220 km. The BEV versions feature a 130-kW front motor and a 202-kW rear motor, along with a 105.4-kWh battery pack offering a CLTC range of 650 km.
The electric Bronco enters a competitive segment that includes the Tank 300 Hi4-T and Tank 400 Hi4-T from Great Wall Motor, as well as BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5. Unlike those rivals, which use a body-on-frame architecture for stronger off-road capability, the Bronco adopts a unibody design aimed at urban use. Fang Cheng Bao’s new Tai 3 and Tai 7 models also employ unibody construction.
