Sedans may not be dominating the electric vehicle market, but Kia aims to challenge the trend with the introduction of the Kia EV4. Unveiled at the 2025 Kia EV Day in Barcelona, this all-electric sedan, along with its hatchback variant, is poised to offer a compelling alternative to the growing crossover segment. Combining an aerodynamic design, competitive range options, and an array of high-tech features, the EV4 seeks to redefine what an entry-level electric vehicle can be.
Built on Kia’s E-GMP platform, the EV4 shares similarities with the boxy EV3 crossover but adopts a sleeker, more refined profile. Buyers will have the choice between two battery capacities—58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh, both of which power a 201-horsepower front-wheel-drive motor.

While an all-wheel-drive variant has not been officially confirmed, its potential inclusion would make the EV4 even more competitive. Acceleration figures vary slightly depending on the battery choice, with 0-62 mph times of 7.4 seconds for the smaller battery and 7.7 seconds for the long-range version. The vehicle’s top speed is capped at 106 mph.
Range is a crucial factor for any EV, and the EV4 does not disappoint. With a drag coefficient of just 0.23, the sedan offers impressive efficiency. According to Europe’s WLTP cycle, the smaller battery provides 267 miles (430 km) of range, while the long-range version extends up to 391 miles (630 km). The hatchback version, being slightly less aerodynamic, delivers 255 miles (410 km) and 367 miles (590 km), respectively.

Charging is efficient, with a 10-80% recharge taking approximately 29 to 31 minutes, depending on the battery size. However, unlike Kia’s more premium EV6, the EV4 operates on a 400-volt architecture, prioritizing cost efficiency over ultra-fast charging speeds.
In terms of design, the EV4 embraces Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, blending sleek aesthetics with a bold stance. The sedan features a low-slung front end, a sculpted body, and an elongated tail, giving it a distinct presence on the road. A rear spoiler enhances the sporty appeal, while the GT-Line trim introduces an even more aggressive appearance. The matte blue finish stands out as a signature color option.

Dimensionally, the EV4 sedan measures 15.5 feet in length, 6.1 feet in width, and 4.9 feet in height, making it a well-proportioned, spacious EV. Cargo capacity is generous, with 17.3 cubic feet in the sedan and 15.3 cubic feet in the hatchback.
Inside, the EV4 prioritizes comfort and technology. The cabin is designed with premium materials, including recycled ocean plastics, and offers a spacious layout for both front and rear passengers. Kia has integrated a range of user-friendly features, including physical buttons, a sliding table, multiple USB ports, and three digital displays.

The infotainment setup consists of two 12.3-inch screens, along with a 5.3-inch display dedicated to climate control functions, totaling 30 inches of digital real estate. Passengers can stream content from platforms like Disney and YouTube, while the optional Harman Kardon eight-speaker system enhances the entertainment experience. For a more immersive atmosphere, Theater Mode adjusts ambient lighting and optimizes audio output.
Kia has also equipped the EV4 with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) package includes Lane Following Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance, Driver Attention Warning, and Remote Parking Assist, among other safety features. The Digital Key 2.0 system, compatible with Apple Watch, allows seamless access and control, while over-the-air (OTA) updates ensure that the vehicle remains up-to-date with the latest software improvements.

Comfort and driving dynamics have not been overlooked. The EV4 employs MacPherson struts upfront and a multi-link rear suspension to balance handling and ride quality. Additionally, SFD3 valves help adjust suspension response based on road conditions, ensuring a smoother drive.
Set to launch in Korea in March 2025 and later in Europe, the EV4 will arrive in the U.S. by 2026, though only the sedan variant is expected. Pricing has yet to be finalized, but industry estimates suggest an entry-level price of around $39,000, aligning closely with the EV3’s expected $35,000 starting point. With its combination of affordability, style, and technology, the Kia EV4 could become a game-changer in the electric sedan market, proving that four-door EVs still have a bright future.
