Finnish EV charging software startup eMabler has secured more than €5.5 million in Series A funding as it prepares to accelerate expansion across Europe and strengthen its smart charging platform.

The investment round was led by Greencode Ventures and included participation from Swiss Post Ventures, Rethink Ventures and Helkama Kiinteistöt.

In addition to the equity financing, eMabler has secured a €1 million digitalisation and innovation loan from Finnvera, backed by the European Investment Fund through the InvestEU Guarantee Programme. The company is also receiving a combination of grants and loans worth €1 million through Business Finland’s Young Innovative Company Programme.

Expansion Plans Focus on Germany and the UK

Founded in Helsinki in 2019, eMabler plans to use the new funding to accelerate its growth in Central Europe, with Germany and the United Kingdom identified as key target markets.

The company also intends to further develop its smart charging technology, which is designed to optimize EV charging based on electricity prices and grid conditions.

According to eMabler, the platform enables charging operators to schedule charging sessions when electricity costs are lower or when grid capacity is more readily available, helping improve profitability while supporting grid stability.

API-First Charging Platform

eMabler develops a business-to-business charging platform built around an API-first architecture that allows companies to integrate charging services directly into their existing digital ecosystems.

The platform provides open developer interfaces alongside approximately 300 pre-built integrations covering payment services, billing systems, roaming networks, load management and fleet solutions.

The company offers tools for charge point management, roaming services, automated billing and other functions aimed at charging operators and mobility service providers.

Powering Finland’s Largest Charging Network

One of eMabler’s most prominent customers is Finland’s S Group retail cooperative, which operates its ABC Charging network using the company’s technology.

By integrating EV charging into its loyalty programme and mobile application, S Group has become Finland’s largest public charging operator, capturing more than half of the country’s public charging market, according to eMabler.

The company said the integration has helped increase both electricity sales and customer engagement within the retailer’s broader ecosystem.

Integrating Parking and Charging

eMabler has also partnered with Nordic parking operators Aimo Park and Time Park to combine parking and EV charging services into a single mobile application.

The company says the integration has improved customer retention and increased revenue per user by simplifying the charging experience.

In addition, eMabler works with EasyPark to enable parking operators across Europe to offer integrated parking and charging services through the EasyPark platform.

Growing Demand for Integrated Charging Solutions

Juha Stenberg, CEO and co-founder of eMabler, said consumer expectations are driving demand for charging services embedded within applications they already use.

“End-users want charging built into the apps and services they already use. We’ve proven that when you make charging a native part of a brand’s core offering, you win the market.”

“This round allows us to meet the surging demand for this integrated model to a much broader European market.”

Investors See Strong Growth Potential

Greencode Ventures Managing Partner Ines Bergmann-Nolting said software platforms will play an increasingly important role as Europe’s EV charging market continues to expand.

“The European EV charging market is accelerating, and the next decade will be won by the software layer underneath it.”

She added that eMabler’s open architecture, established customer base and experience in electric mobility position the company well for future growth across Europe.

As EV adoption continues to rise, eMabler is betting that integrated software platforms and smart charging capabilities will become increasingly important in supporting the next phase of charging infrastructure development.
