ENGIE Vianeo is developing four high-power charging parks for electric heavy goods vehicles at German motorway service areas, with the projects planned at two 24-Autohöfe sites and two Euro-Rastpark locations. The installations will combine 400 kW charging points with Megawatt Charging System (MCS) chargers rated at up to 1,000 kW.

The projects form part of ENGIE Vianeo’s expansion of dedicated charging infrastructure for heavy commercial vehicles along major European freight corridors.

Two 24-Autohöfe Sites Planned for 2027

At the 24-Autohof Homberg (Efze) near Kassel, ENGIE Vianeo plans to install three 400 kW charging points and one 1,000 kW MCS charger. The site is scheduled to begin operation in spring 2027.

The location sits near the A7 and is surrounded by major logistics facilities, including the European logistics network ELVIS’ central transhipment warehouse, an Amazon distribution centre and a Palletways logistics hub.

At the 24-Shell Autohof Gramschatzer Wald near Würzburg, four 400 kW charging points and one 1,000 kW MCS charger are planned. The site is scheduled to enter operation during the first half of 2027.

The A7 is a major north-south freight route in Germany and forms part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean TEN-T corridor.

They are optimally accessible from both motorway directions and the surrounding region, combining charging breaks with gastronomy, services, and high-quality amenities. Euro-Rastpark Adds Two More Charging Parks

ENGIE Vianeo is also partnering with Euro-Rastpark to develop charging facilities for electric HGVs at locations in Lippetal/Hamm and Pfaffenhofen/Schweitenkirchen.

The Euro-Rastpark site at Lippetal/Hamm is directly connected to the A2, an important east-west freight corridor linking the Ruhr region with Berlin.

ENGIE Vianeo plans to install six 400 kW charging points and two 1,000 kW MCS chargers at the site by July 2027. The location currently provides more than 215 parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles.

At Euro-Rastpark Pfaffenhofen/Schweitenkirchen, located along the A9 between Ingolstadt and Munich, six 400 kW charging points are scheduled to become operational as early as January 2027.

Engie Launches Engie Vianeo to Expand Electric Vehicle Charging Network in France

Euro-Rastpark said the location handles around 13,500 HGVs per day.

“With 18 service areas, Euro-Rastpark is a key component of Germany’s transport infrastructure. We are pleased to implement charging solutions for electric heavy-duty transport for the first time with ENGIE Vianeo as a competent partner,” said Johannes Witt, Managing Director of Euro-Rastpark.

ENGIE Vianeo Targets 1,000 HGV Charging Points

The four new projects are separate from other commercial vehicle charging developments already being pursued by ENGIE Vianeo in Germany.

The company has been active in the German market since July 2025 and is currently developing around 50 sites with charging infrastructure specifically intended for commercial vehicles.

Its German activities include projects with the Port of Kiel and Autobahn GmbH’s federally supported fast-charging network for electric HGVs.

“With 24-Autohöfe, we are positioning our long-term site model on one of Europe’s most important freight transport axes. Our goal is to establish a seamless charging network along Europe’s key logistics corridors: 25,000 charging points across Europe by 2030, including 1,000 for heavy electric commercial vehicles,” said Jan-Niklas Ellerich, Managing Director of ENGIE Vianeo in Germany.

The new rest-area projects extend ENGIE Vianeo’s strategy of placing high-power charging infrastructure directly along established freight routes, where electric truck operators can combine charging stops with existing parking and service facilities.
